OUR TECH HISTORY
As technology and volunteers evolved, our organization has maintained a commitment to sharing our journey! We migrated from email pen pal exchange and tangible photo prints to highly detailed websites devoted to each year's group to real time sharing on social media. Due to the expertise of a former chaperone and parent Paul Bowder, in 2005 he created www.meekernz.net as a central hub of information. We are grateful for the many years of donated time & leadership Paul gave to our website. Around 2009, the "person" Meeker-New Zealand Student-Exchange was created on FaceBook and offered a private way to share instant photos and stories to/from New Zealand with our "friends"! Over the years, social media became a hub and not all information made it back to the website. With the advent of "pages" and "groups" in FaceBook, we created a public page for Meeker Citizens of the World and often many years of families have had private group channels there as well.
In 2020, we decided to give our website a rebirth to incorporate new technology & better updates with a new main page of www.meekernz.org. If you want to follow the stories of our adventures, we recommend you bookmark our website, subscribe to our blog, or "like" our FaceBook page. We will sure try our best to keep you in the loop, but always remember a key to our success is being fully volunteer leadership.
